It’s that time of year where those that have been around the club for a while start to get jussstttt a little excited about Lugi’s famous annual crayfish party. The event is being hosted and ran by Anna, Sandra and Linnéa of the ladies team and the event description as well as the link to the Facebook event can be found below. Make sure you get down for this unmissable party!
“Summer has come to an end but the best part is yet to come! It is time for the annual Lugi Crayfish Party!!!
We eat crayfish (in a very swedish manner) and some other good stuff and sing rugby songs and occational traditional swedish snappsvisor (songs from other nationalities are very much encouraged!!)
So make yourself available saturday the 19th of september and crayfish down to the clubhouse, you have to bring a funny hat for the sake of the tradition.
The space is limited, therefore you need to secure your spot ASAP. Do that by paying 200 SEK by swish to 0738006534 or bank account 9272-2929163 AT THE LATEST on the 13th of september. Dinner and one drink is included. You can also pay in cash to Sandra Olofsson at training. MARK THE PAYMENT WITH YOUR FULL NAME.”
On a sun drenched Centrala IP, Lugi Lions RK hosted the Swedish national teams final training camp before the squad fly out to Moscow in just over a week’s time to take on Europe’s best sevens teams in the Grand Prixs. Due to some internal issues, the Danish union did not send their team as advertised, but this only meant that the combined Lugi, Pingvin, Kalmar and Malmö team got more of a run out.
In total, four matches took place, with Sweden victorious in each game; but their dominance in the win column was not without the Skåne team providing a stern test in two of the games as early leads threatened the national team’s clean sweep. The competitiveness of the games was highlighted by Sweden’s head coach Andrew Franco complementing the Skåne girls on their play and stating that the selection process had missed a little talent, something which he aims to correct in the future with more camps to be held in the south.
On the pitch, Lugi were represented by Michaela Rydén and Martina Vivlund in the blue and yellow of Sweden as well as Anna Thynell, Elizabeth Sonnenholzner, Malin Andersson and Sandra Olofsson who all took to the field for the Skåne team. All girls acquitted themselves very well on the pitch and as usual are a credit to their club.
The club would like to thank all those that came down and supported both teams today as well as those who gave their time to set up and clear the pitch afterwards. Once again the club would like to wish all the best to team Sweden in their upcoming tournaments and we’ll do our best to keep you all up to date with relevant news on our girls.
The club invites everyone to come take part in our Rugby Funday to be held on the 11th May.
The BBQ will be lit at 12.30 and burgers will be flipping from 12.45!
At 12.40 the ladies team and old boys will play a promotional game, before the Skåne Crusaders take to the pitch for warm up their warm-up at 13:00.
Then at 14.00 the Skåne Crusaders will face off against the Kungsbacka Broncos.
We’ll make sure the kiosk is full of yummy treats and that there are burgers all around, so come on down and enjoy a lovely day by the (hopefully) sunny pitch and show all your family and friends that rugby is a sport for everyone – no matter age, form or gender!
Head over to our Facebook event and let us know you’re attending – here!
See you in the sun! And remember, Sunday is funday! And that is rugby!
